John NEEDLE (1787-1831)
John NEEDLE [7512], son of James NEEDLE (1758?-1840) [7845] and Mary MOREBY (1760-1821) [7846], was born in 1787 in Tadmarton, Oxfordshire. He was baptised on 9 December 1787 in Tadmarton. He served in the 14th Light Dragoons from 10 March 1811 to 22 May 1821. He enlisted in Coventry on 10th March 1811 at the age of 22 years for Unlimited Service. He was discharged at Brighton Barracks on 20 March 1821 after Ten Years and 74 Days of service ‘in consequence of Chronic Catarrh followed by Haemoptoe & originating in a cold while on Duty at Richmond last October he is unfit for further service, his right forearm was broken by a Horse on Duty at Regiment’. His conduct was good. When he was discharged he was described as being 'about Thirty two Years of Age, is five Feet Seven Inches in height, Light Hair, Hazel Eyes, Fair Complexion, and by Trade or Occupation a Labourer'. John married Elizabeth <NEEDLE> [7513] in 1820 (estimated). He died in May 1831 in Tadmarton. He was buried on 29 May 1831 in Tadmarton. An entry in the Poor Law accounts book states that on May 28 1831 4s 6d was paid for Jno NEEDOL's funeral.
